Telegram Ads is Telegram's official ad platform: sponsored messages are shown in public channels. Owners of channels and bots can pay for such ads with the Stars their channel or bot has received, and Telegram gives a 30% discount on it.

## Who can pay for ads with Stars

Owners of channels and bots pay with the Stars on the channel's or bot's balance: from Star reactions, paid posts, subscriptions and payments in the bot. Telegram announced it in 2024: if you put the Stars you received into promoting your channel, the ads cost 30% less than when paid with money.

Stars from your personal My Stars balance can't be spent on a channel's ads this way — it takes the balance of the channel or bot itself.

## How to pay for ads with Stars

1. Open the channel's Stars balance — in the channel's statistics, on the "Monetization" tab — or the bot's balance in its profile: "Edit" → "Balance".
2. Choose to buy ads. Telegram opens an ad account tied to the Stars of that channel or bot.
3. Create the ad in your Telegram Ads account: the text, the link and the audience.
4. Pay for the impressions with Stars from the balance.

## Where a channel gets Stars

Stars not spent on ads can be withdrawn by the owner through Fragment — from 1,000 Stars, and each one becomes available 21 days after it arrives.

- **For money** — the Telegram Ads account is topped up separately, under the platform's rules.
