# Birthdays on Telegram

How to add your date of birth, who sees it and how to congratulate with a gift.

You can add your date of birth to your Telegram profile. On that day your profile is decorated with confetti and balloons, and your contacts see a reminder to congratulate you — and perhaps to give you something.

## How to add your birthday to your profile

1. Open Settings → Edit (on a computer, Edit Profile).
2. Tap Date of Birth.
3. Choose the day and month. You can leave out the year — then nobody sees your age.
4. Save.

You can't change the date too often: Telegram limits the number of changes per week.

## Who sees your date of birth

By default only your contacts see your date of birth. You can change that in Settings → Privacy and Security → Date of Birth: choose who sees it and add exceptions.

## How you find out about contacts' birthdays

When one of your contacts has a birthday, Telegram shows a reminder in your chat list. From it you can write a greeting right away or send a gift. Your contacts see your date the same way — if you allowed it to be shown.

## What to give for a birthday on Telegram
