USDT is a stablecoin pegged to the US dollar: one coin is worth about one dollar. You can buy it without leaving Telegram, in the P2P markets of the wallet bots Walt, @CryptoBot and xRocket. You pay a seller by bank transfer or another payment method, the service holds the seller's coins in escrow, and releases them to you once the payment is confirmed. Below: where to look, how to choose a network and how to avoid losing money.

Where to buy USDT inside Telegram

In all three services the service itself holds the coins and you sign in with your Telegram account. Which currencies and payment methods you see depends on the service and your region — the ads show them.

  • Walt (@walt). Since 28 September 2026 this is the name of the service formerly known as Wallet in Telegram. Walt's help says a purchase starts at "Deposit" → "P2P Market" → "Buy". Walt asks you to verify your identity and is not available in every country (it names the US and UK among them) — check walt.io.
  • @CryptoBot. According to its help, open "P2P" in the main menu, tap "Buy" and pick the national currency you want to pay with. More in Crypto Bot (@CryptoBot) on Telegram.
  • xRocket (@xRocket). It has a P2P market with built-in escrow, and also lets you buy coins with regular money through a payment provider inside the service; the provider may ask you to verify. More in xRocket on Telegram.

Outside Telegram, USDT is sold on crypto exchanges with a P2P section — the principle is the same. Wallet bots versus wallets of your own: crypto wallets in Telegram.

How a P2P purchase works

Using Walt as the example — the other services follow similar steps:

  1. Pick a seller's ad and tap "Buy".
  2. Enter how much USDT you want, review the order and confirm it.
  3. Wait for the seller to accept the order: the payment details appear in the order.
  4. Pay in one transfer from your bank app, using exactly the details in the order.
  5. Tap "Confirm Payment" and attach the receipt.
  6. Once the seller confirms, the USDT are credited to your balance.

Escrow means the seller's coins are locked during the deal. In Walt's description, the amount in an ad is reserved in the seller's wallet when the ad is posted, and handed to the buyer after the payment is confirmed.

Which network: USDT on TON and others

USDT is one coin on several networks. Tether launched it on TON in April 2024; besides TON it lives on, for example, Tron (TRC-20), Ethereum and Solana. Walt merges USDT from all networks into one balance and lets you pick any supported network when you withdraw.

  • A TON address starts with UQ or EQ, a Tron address with T, an Ethereum address with 0x.
  • Send USDT only to an address of the network you chose when withdrawing. Walt warns that a wrong address leads to lost funds.
  • The TON network fee is paid in GRAM, the former TON. If you move USDT out of a wallet of your own, keep a little GRAM in it.

Paying in the Shiba Bank bot needs USDT on the TON network: on the payment screen it is "💲 USDT (TON network)".

How to stay safe in P2P

  • Pay only inside the order and only to the details in it. Do not move to a private chat: escrow protects the deal while you stay in the service.
  • Pay from accounts in your own name: Walt allows only payment methods registered in your name and matching your verification.
  • Compare the recipient's name in your bank with the name in the order. By Walt's rules, if they do not match, do not send the payment.
  • Do not trust "admins" or "support" who write to you first. Walt says its support never messages first and never asks for a secret recovery phrase — see the recovery phrase guide.
  • Never give anyone your Telegram login code. The schemes scammers use are in scams in Telegram.

The USDT rate

In P2P the seller sets the terms and the rate in the ad, so compare several offers. For a reference, the page USDT rate shows the rate the Shiba Bank bot uses for its prices.

Pay for Stars and Premium with USDT

You can pay in the Shiba Bank bot with the USDT you bought: tap "⭐ Buy Stars" or "👑 Buy Premium", choose "🪙 Crypto", then "👛 Tonkeeper etc." and "💲 USDT (TON network)" — or pay an invoice from your @CryptoBot or xRocket balance. More in how to buy Stars with crypto. Prices for Stars are on the prices page.
