How to add your birthday to your Telegram profile and hide the year, who sees your date of birth, how you find out about contacts' birthdays and what to give: a gift, Stars or Telegram Premium.
You can add your date of birth to your Telegram profile. On that day your profile is decorated with confetti and balloons, and your contacts see a reminder to congratulate you — and perhaps to give you something.
How to add your birthday to your profile
- Open Settings → Edit (on a computer, Edit Profile).
- Tap Date of Birth.
- Choose the day and month. You can leave out the year — then nobody sees your age.
- Save.
You can't change the date too often: Telegram limits the number of changes per week.
Who sees your date of birth
By default only your contacts see your date of birth. You can change that in Settings → Privacy and Security → Date of Birth: choose who sees it and add exceptions.
How you find out about contacts' birthdays
When one of your contacts has a birthday, Telegram shows a reminder in your chat list. From it you can write a greeting right away or send a gift. Your contacts see your date the same way — if you allowed it to be shown.
What to give for a birthday on Telegram
- A gift from Telegram's shop — from 15 Stars, with a message and with or without your name. All gift prices are on the Telegram gifts page, and ideas for messages are in what to write in a gift.
- Telegram Premium for 3, 6 or 12 months — by @username, from the Shiba Bank bot or from your friend's profile.
- Stars — they can be spent on gifts, reactions and paid posts. From the Shiba Bank bot, Stars reach a friend by @username through Fragment, usually within a minute.
