What are Telegram gifts and what are they for
What Telegram gifts are and how they work: bought with Stars and shown on the profile; the kinds (regular, limited, collectible); what gifts cost and what to do with a gift you receive.
A Telegram gift is a piece of animated artwork you buy with Stars (Telegram Stars) and send to another person or to a channel. A person receives it as a message in the chat and can show it on their profile, on the "Gifts" tab. Telegram introduced gifts in October 2024.
What gifts are for
- Congratulating or thanking someone. A gift can carry your message — like an animated greeting card.
- Decorating a profile. Gifts you receive show on the "Gifts" tab, and you can pin your favourites.
- Supporting a channel. A gift can go to a channel, and it then shows on the channel's profile.
- Collecting. Unique gifts are transferred, sold and moved to the TON blockchain.
The kinds of Telegram gifts
- Regular gifts are sold in Telegram's gift shop in unlimited supply.
- Limited gifts come in a limited edition. Once it sells out, the shop no longer offers them. Some new gifts Telegram sells through auctions with bids in Stars.
- Unique (collectible) gifts are upgraded gifts. The upgrade is paid in Stars, and the gift gets its own number and a random combination of model, backdrop and symbol. The community calls these NFT gifts — more in NFT gifts in Telegram.
Gifts for Stars: what they cost
Gifts in Telegram's shop are bought with Stars, and each has its own price — the teddy bear, for example. The list of gifts with their prices and upgrade costs is on the what Telegram gifts cost page. Unique gifts are resold on Telegram's marketplace at the price their owner sets, and a collectible gift's card shows its approximate resale value.
What to do with a gift you receive
- Show it on your profile or hide it. All your gifts are in My Profile > Gifts: open one and choose whether to show it. In Settings > Privacy and Security > Gifts you choose whose gifts appear on your profile automatically.
- Convert it into Stars within 7 days of receiving it. You get fewer Stars than the gift cost, and the gift disappears for good: how to convert a gift into Stars.

Only a unique gift can be passed on to another person. A regular gift can't be transferred.
Where to get Stars for gifts
Gifts from Telegram's shop are bought with Stars on your account balance. What does a gift on Telegram mean?
It is a token of attention: bought with Stars and sent with a message. The gifts someone shows on their profile are visible to everyone who opens it.
Are Telegram gifts NFTs?
Regular gifts are not. An upgraded (collectible) gift is unique, and it can be moved to the TON blockchain through Fragment, where it becomes an ordinary NFT.
Are Telegram gifts worth money?

How do I remove a gift from my profile?
Hide it from your profile in the gift's card: it stays yours, but others no longer see it. In its first 7 days a regular gift can also be converted into Stars — then it is gone for good.
Do Telegram gifts expire?
No, a gift you receive stays with you. Only converting a regular gift into Stars has a deadline — 7 days after you receive it.
