Telegram channel statistics
How to view the statistics of a Telegram channel: the subscriber minimum, the graphs Telegram shows, where the channel's Stars balance is, and whether you can see another channel's stats.
Telegram has built-in channel statistics, and only the channel's owner and admins can see them. Open the channel's profile and look for «Statistics» (apps place it differently, so check the «More» menu). Per Telegram's announcement, detailed graphs are available for channels with more than 50 subscribers. Telegram does not show another channel's statistics: under its posts you only see views, reactions and the subscriber count.
How to see a channel's statistics in Telegram
- Open the channel and tap its name to reach the channel profile.
- Find «Statistics». Telegram's own instructions give the path «Channel Info → More → Statistics»; other app versions may place the button elsewhere.
- If it is missing, check three things: you are the owner or an admin, the channel has enough subscribers, and you are looking at the channel itself, not its discussion group.
The figure of 50 comes from Telegram's official blog. The technical documentation says the exact limit is set by the server, so it can change.
What the statistics show
Telegram's official documentation lists these graphs:
- Growth — the total number of subscribers.
- Followers — how many people joined and left over the period.
- Notifications — the share of subscribers who keep the channel's notifications on.
- Views by hour — when your subscribers read your posts.
- Sources of views and new followers — where they come from.
- Languages — which languages your subscribers speak.
- Interactions — how subscribers respond to posts.
- Reactions — which emoji people leave under posts.
- Stories — views, shares and reactions on the channel's stories.
Telegram also works out the average views, shares and reactions per post for the chosen period.
Statistics for a single post
Every post in a channel has a view counter, and views of forwarded copies are included in it. An admin can open the statistics of a single post, which also lists the public channels the post was forwarded to.
Where to find Stars statistics and monetization
The Stars a channel receives from subscribers show up in the «Monetization» section — according to Telegram, the path is «Profile → Statistics → Monetization». The channel's balance is there too. Withdrawal goes through Fragment as Toncoin, and under Telegram's terms for content creators, Stars become available for withdrawal after 21 days. More in Stars in a Telegram channel.
According to Telegram's announcement, owners of public channels with 1,000 subscribers or more receive a share of the revenue from ads shown in their channels. If you pay for ads with Stars, see Telegram Ads for Stars.
Channel boosts
According to Telegram, boosts are reached from the same statistics section (newer app versions may show them as a separate item): it shows how many boosts the channel needs for the next level and the boost link. What boosts are is explained in Telegram boosts.
Statistics of someone else's channel
There is no built-in way to see another channel's statistics. From public data you can see the subscriber count, the views under posts and the reactions. Third-party services such as TGStat collect extended data on any public channel: you enter the channel's name or link and get estimates. That is not Telegram data but the service's own calculations, so reach and growth figures may differ from the real ones.
What to do with the numbers
- Look at the sources of new followers: they show where your audience comes from.
- Compare views by hour with your posting times and move posts to the peak.
- Watch the share of subscribers with notifications on: it shows how engaged the audience is.
If you run a giveaway in your channel, the statistics will show the growth in subscribers on those days. How giveaways work in the bot is covered in giveaways in a Telegram channel.
