Emoji status in Telegram Premium
How to set an emoji status next to your name on Telegram, for a set time or with no end date, how to remove it, how to wear a collectible gift as your status and whether the Premium badge can be hidden.
An emoji status is an emoji next to your name: in the chat list, in your profile and in groups. It takes the place of the Telegram Premium badge and is available only to Premium subscribers. The status can be animated: you choose from thousands of emoji, including any premium emoji from your packs.
How to set a status
- Tap the Premium badge at the top of the chat list — or open Settings and choose "Set Emoji Status". If a status is already set, the item is called "Change Emoji Status".
- Pick an emoji. Popular statuses are at the top, your emoji packs below; there are categories and search.
- The status appears next to your name right away.
In Telegram Desktop, "Set Emoji Status" is in the main menu.
You can also make an emoji your status from its preview: press and hold the emoji and choose "Set as Status".
A status for a set time
Press and hold an emoji in the status list and Telegram offers a duration. On Android the options are "Set for 1 hour", "Set for 2 hours", "Set for 8 hours", "Set for 2 days" and "Other…". Until then the app shows when the status expires, and after that it disappears on its own.
How to remove a status
- On a phone — open the status picker the same way you set it and bring back the Premium badge instead of the emoji.
- In Telegram Desktop — the "Remove Status" item.
- A status with a time limit disappears on its own when the time is up.

A gift as your status
A gift upgraded to a unique collectible can be worn as your status:
- Open your profile and the "Gifts" tab.
- Tap a unique gift and choose "Wear".
As Telegram describes it, the gift then shows next to your name as a glittering icon, your profile takes on the gift's backdrop and symbol, and tapping the icon shows the gift's owner and attributes. Wearing gifts requires a Telegram Premium subscription.
To stop wearing it, tap "Take Off": your profile returns to its original look. A gift you wear replaces the profile color and pattern you picked, and the other way round: choosing a new profile color takes the gift off.

A status from mini apps
Mini apps of bots can suggest a status to a Premium subscriber — for example, to show that you're in a game or listening to music. Telegram asks you to confirm first. An app can also ask for lasting access to your status so it can change it by itself; you can revoke that access on the bot's profile page.
A channel's or group's status
Channels and groups can set an emoji status too once they reach a boost level: in Telegram's table of levels, from level 8. The status is chosen in the "Appearance" section of the channel's or group's profile — "Channel Emoji Status" or "Group Emoji Status". Channels and groups choose from thousands of emoji made by Telegram's artists. Boosts come from Premium subscribers.
Can the status or the Premium badge be hidden
The Premium badge can't be turned off: it is shown next to the names of all subscribers. You can only replace it with an emoji status. Telegram also has no separate privacy setting for the status.

Can I set an emoji status without Premium?
No, emoji statuses are a Telegram Premium feature. Wearing a collectible gift as your status also requires the subscription.
How do I remove my emoji status on Telegram?
Open the status picker and bring back the Premium badge; in Telegram Desktop choose "Remove Status". A status set for a limited time disappears on its own.
Can I hide my Premium status or the Premium badge?
The Premium badge can't be turned off — only replaced with an emoji status. Telegram has no setting that hides the status from other people.
How do I make my own status?
Draw your own emoji pack and upload it with the official @Stickers bot — see premium emoji on Telegram. Add the pack, and any emoji from it can be your status.
What does "Status: Non-Unique" mean on a gift?
It isn't an emoji status. That is how the card of a regular gift shows it hasn't been upgraded to a unique one; if an upgrade is available, the card offers it. More in how to upgrade a gift.
Does Premium let me see when others were last seen?
Yes, if you hide your own last seen time. Without Premium you then don't see the exact last seen time of people you hide yours from — only an approximate one: recently, within a week, within a month. With the subscription you see the last seen time of people who share it with you, without showing yours.
