The fastest way to make a Telegram sticker is the built-in sticker maker: open the sticker panel in any chat, tap "+", pick a photo, and Telegram cuts the subject out of its background with one tap. Video stickers and finished artwork are uploaded through the official @Stickers bot. Any Telegram user can make stickers — Premium isn't required.
How to make a sticker from a photo on Telegram
- Open any chat and the sticker panel next to the message field.
- Tap "+" and pick a photo.
- Tap the subject you want to keep — Telegram removes the background. Erase leftovers, restore anything erased by mistake, and add an outline for the classic sticker look.
- If you like, add text, drawings, emoji, animated stickers or GIFs.
- Send the sticker to the chat or add it to a set. For a set, pick emoji that fit the sticker — Telegram suggests some from the picture.

What files Telegram accepts
A sticker made outside the app must meet Telegram's requirements. For regular and video stickers, one side is exactly 512 pixels and the other 512 or less:

How to make a video sticker on Telegram
A video sticker is a short looping clip. Make it in any video editor and save it as WEBM with the VP9 codec — HandBrake and ffmpeg can both do that. Telegram accepts only WEBM with VP9, so an MP4 or GIF has to be re-encoded first. Then upload the file to @Stickers — in the mini app or with the /newvideo command.
Can you make a GIF sticker on Telegram?
An animated sticker people call a "GIF sticker" is, on Telegram, either a video sticker (WEBM) or an animated one (TGS). A GIF file itself is not accepted as a sticker: according to Telegram's requirements a video sticker must be a WEBM file with the VP9 codec. So convert the GIF to WEBM first (no sound, no longer than 3 seconds, up to 256 KB) and upload it to @Stickers. In the editor inside the app you can also add a GIF to a photo as a decoration, along with text, drawings and emoji.
How to make an animated sticker on Telegram
An animated sticker is a vector animation in the TGS format. Telegram's requirements call for a vector editor whose artwork can go into Adobe After Effects, After Effects itself and the Bodymovin-TG plugin (developer page) — a hard road for a beginner. It's simpler to make the animation as a video sticker: any video editor will do.
How to make a sticker pack on Telegram
- In the app. When a sticker is ready, create a set instead of sending it, then keep adding stickers — your own or other authors', to gather your favorites.
- In @Stickers. The mini app lets you create stickers and emoji, manage packs and see detailed usage statistics. The bot's functions also work as text commands:
/newpackfor images,/newvideofor videos.
A sticker set holds up to 120 stickers, an emoji set up to 200. Every set has a link like t.me/addstickers/pack_name: send it to friends and they can add the whole set.
Don't upload other people's artwork or brands without permission.
Telegram sticker bots
The official bot is @Stickers. Other bots also build sets from your photos and videos; the set belongs to you, but under Telegram's rules its short name ends in _by_ and the bot's name, which shows which bot made it. How to add stickers on Telegram
- Tap a sticker from the set in a chat — the set opens and can be added whole.
- Open the set's link:

Added sets are listed in the settings: in the mobile apps the section is called Stickers and Emoji. Sending emoji from a set in messages takes Telegram Premium; without it you can try them in Saved Messages.
How to delete stickers on Telegram
- A set from your list. Open the list of your sets in the settings (in the mobile apps the section is called Stickers and Emoji), find the set and remove it from the list — the delete control looks a little different on Android, iPhone and desktop. Stickers you've already sent stay in chats, and the set can be added again by its link.
- Your own set. The
/delpackcommand in @Stickers deletes it whole,/delstickera single sticker. In Telegram Desktop, from version 6.7.8 (April 2026), you can also delete your own sets right in the app.
Premium stickers and emoji
Making a sticker takes no subscription. Premium adds premium stickers (what they are) and custom emoji: anyone can create an emoji set, but sending those emoji in messages takes Premium (premium emoji).
