"Removed gifts" are Telegram gifts that were taken out of the gift shop. You can't buy them there anymore, but for a while bots could still send them by the gift's internal number. That's why they were sold as "removed gifts".
What removed gifts are
Telegram's gift shop has permanent gifts — the bear, the heart, the rose and others — and gifts that appear for a while. A removed gift is a regular gift: it isn't unique and isn't an NFT. You can keep it on your profile, hide it and, in the first 7 days after you get it, convert it to Stars — like any regular gift.
Why bots can't send them anymore
Bots send gifts through Telegram's official API, and for some time the API accepted gifts that were no longer in the shop. On the night of 15 September 2026 that stopped: Telegram began rejecting such gifts from bots.
The Shiba Bank bot sold removed gifts too, and on 15 September 2026 it took that section down. If someone offers to sell you a removed gift through a bot, the bot will most likely be unable to send it.
Plugins and mods for removed gifts
Removed gifts are also offered "through" plugins for unofficial Telegram clients. Such plugins are written by third-party developers, and Telegram isn't responsible for them.
By installing a plugin in an unofficial client, you give someone else's code access to your account. Plugins with built-in malware loaders are known: they were used to take over Telegram accounts, phone numbers and files on the device.
Even if a plugin shows a "removed gift" on your profile, it may be only a picture on your own screen: other people won't see it.
What to give instead of a removed gift
