How to withdraw Stars from a Telegram channel

How to withdraw Stars from a Telegram channel: what the owner needs (1,000 Stars, 21 days, a cloud password), where the withdraw button is, getting GRAM on Fragment, and why it can be blocked.

The Stars a channel receives from its subscribers are withdrawn by the channel's owner through Fragment, a platform made by the Telegram team. The payout arrives in GRAM (TON) to your TON wallet, and from there you can exchange it for dollars or local money. Where a channel's Stars come from is in Stars in a Telegram channel.

What you need

  • You own the channel. Admins can see the Stars balance if the owner gave them that right, but only the owner can withdraw.
  • At least 1,000 Stars on the balance. Telegram won't withdraw less.
  • Stars older than 21 days. Each Star received becomes available for withdrawal 21 days later, so the channel's balance and the amount you can withdraw often differ.
  • A cloud password. Before the withdrawal Telegram asks for your two-step verification password — it is turned on in Telegram's privacy settings.
  • A TON wallet, such as Tonkeeper. The payout goes there.

How to withdraw channel Stars: step by step

  1. Open the channel and tap its name to open the profile.
  2. Go to the "Monetization" section: it shows the channel's Stars balance and how much of it can be withdrawn now. Depending on the Telegram app, the section sits in the channel settings or next to the statistics.
  3. Tap withdraw via Fragment and enter how many Stars to withdraw.
  4. Enter your cloud password.
  5. Telegram opens a Fragment page: connect your TON wallet or enter its address, and confirm.
  6. The payout in GRAM (TON) arrives in that wallet.
Important

Only Stars that have become available can be withdrawn. If the balance is 1,500 Stars and 700 of them arrived less than 21 days ago, 800 are available — below the minimum, so withdrawal stays closed for now.

How much 1,000 Stars bring

Telegram converts Stars into dollars at its own rate and pays the equivalent in GRAM (TON). Telegram's terms for developers set the rate at $0.013 per Star — about $13 for 1,000 Stars. How much that is in GRAM depends on GRAM's rate at the moment of withdrawal, and you see the amount before you confirm.

Why channel Stars won't withdraw

  • Fewer than 1,000 available Stars. Part of the balance hasn't passed 21 days yet.
  • No cloud password. Without two-step verification Telegram won't open the withdrawal.
  • The password was turned on or changed less than 24 hours ago. Withdrawal opens 24 hours after the change.
  • You signed in on this device less than 24 hours ago. Wait 24 hours or withdraw from a device where you signed in earlier.
  • You are not the owner. Only the owner can withdraw: if the channel was handed over to someone else, they withdraw.

How to get cash

GRAM (TON) from your wallet is exchanged for dollars or local money at a crypto exchange or an exchange service — outside Telegram.

Important

Use trusted exchange services and never share your wallet's secret phrase with anyone.

If the Stars are on your personal account

Stars on a personal Telegram account — bought or received as a gift — can't be withdrawn through Fragment. You can sell them to the Shiba Bank bot for USDT: see how to withdraw Stars from a Telegram account.

Frequently asked questions

Can I withdraw fewer than 1,000 Stars from a channel?

No: the minimum withdrawal is 1,000 Stars, and each of them must stay on the channel's balance for 21 days.

Can a channel admin withdraw the Stars?

No. An admin can see the balance if the owner allowed it, but only the owner can withdraw.

Where does the money go when I withdraw channel Stars?

In GRAM (TON) to the TON wallet you connected or entered on Fragment. Telegram doesn't pay to a bank card directly.

How do I withdraw 1,000 Stars from a channel?

Wait until the balance has at least 1,000 Stars older than 21 days, turn on a cloud password and tap withdraw in the "Monetization" section — Fragment then sends GRAM (TON) to your wallet.

Can I sell channel Stars to the bot?

No: the bot takes payment only in Stars from a personal account. Channel Stars are withdrawn through Fragment.
