How to transfer a gift on Telegram
Which Telegram gifts can be passed on to another person, how to transfer an NFT gift to a person, a channel or the TON blockchain, and why a regular gift cannot be transferred.
Only a unique — collectible, NFT — gift can be passed on to another person. A regular gift stays with whoever received it: they can keep it on their profile, hide it, or convert it into Stars within 7 days.
How to transfer an NFT gift
- Open your profile → Gifts and choose the gift.
- Tap "Transfer".
- Choose the recipient — a person or a channel.
- Confirm. If the transfer costs Stars, Telegram shows the amount before you confirm.
How to move a gift to the TON blockchain
A unique gift can be moved to the TON network as an NFT: Gifts → the gift → Transfer → send via blockchain. After that it is kept in your TON wallet, and you can also sell it on outside platforms.
Why a regular gift cannot be transferred
Telegram does not let people pass regular gifts on. What you can do with them:
- keep them on your profile or hide them — gifts on your profile;
- convert them into Stars within 7 days of receiving them — for less than the gift cost: how to convert a gift into Stars.
Regular gifts — the bear, the heart, the rose and the others — are not upgraded to NFTs either. Only a limited gift can be upgraded: how to upgrade a gift.
When a gift can be transferred
The terms of a transfer — from when it is possible and what it costs — are shown in the gift's card. If there is no "Transfer" button or it is inactive, the gift cannot be transferred yet.
