Fragment verification: is it required and how does it work
What Fragment verification is: when the site asks for an identity check through Sumsub, what you upload, why you cannot buy a verification, and how to get Stars and Premium without it.
Fragment verification is an identity check run by a third-party service, Sumsub. Media reports dated 26 November 2024 say the site began asking for it before purchases of Stars, Telegram Premium and usernames. The check covers your email, phone number, personal details, an ID document and a photo of your face. More recent reviews disagree: some write that a connected wallet is enough to buy Stars. If you would rather not go through it, you can get Stars and Premium without Fragment: inside Telegram itself, or through the Shiba Bank bot, which needs only the recipient's @username.
Is verification required on Fragment
Fragment publishes no official table of who needs it and when: its terms and privacy policy say nothing about an identity check. What is known comes from media reports and reviews:
- in November 2024 PANews and GNcrypto reported the launch of a mandatory Sumsub check covering Stars, Premium and usernames (PANews also names anonymous numbers, which other sources dispute). Buying Stars and Premium through @PremiumBot or the app stores was not affected;
- a Dropstab review from April 2026 says the check applies to every purchase and withdrawal on Fragment, +888 numbers included;
- other 2026 guides disagree: some say that withdrawing Stars to a TON wallet does not require it, others that a connected wallet is enough to buy Stars.
The sources disagree and none is official, so the reliable guide is the site itself: it shows at checkout whether it wants a check from you and at what point. If you need a single purchase, it is usually simpler to skip it altogether — see below.
How Fragment verification works
According to media descriptions, the check takes these steps:
- Confirm your email address.
- Confirm your phone number.
- Enter personal details — first and last name.
- Upload an identity document (reports mention an ID card) and pass a face check.
Which documents are accepted depends on the country and the check's setup: Sumsub describes this as configured by the service that uses it. In a statement quoted by VGTimes, Sumsub calls itself a technical platform: the client — here, Fragment — makes the verification decision.
Reviews on Trustpilot often complain about a refusal within seconds, with no explanation and no way to try again. The check can fail even with genuine documents, so build that into your plans.
Can you buy a Fragment verification
Offers like "I will pass Fragment verification for you" are best avoided, and here is why:
- The check is tied to a person's documents. If an intermediary passes it, your purchases on Fragment are registered under someone else's data, and the consequences of those deals fall on you and on the owner of that data alike.
- The intermediary will want access to your wallet, your account or photos of your documents. That is exactly what scammers ask for: the schemes are described in how to avoid scams on Telegram.
- Paying in advance "for verification" is a typical sign of a scam; an honest service does not need it.
Never send your Telegram login code, cloud password, wallet seed phrase or document photos to anyone who promises to "pass the check for you".
How to get Stars and Premium without Fragment verification
- Inside Telegram. According to the Telegram blog, Stars are bought through in-app purchases via Apple and Google, or in the bot @PremiumBot. Premium is a subscription through the App Store, Google Play or the same bot, and you can gift it from a friend's profile for 3, 6 or 12 months (Premium FAQ).
- In the Shiba Bank bot. The bot buys Stars and Premium on Fragment itself, from its own verified account. You pass no check: the recipient's @username is enough (yours or a friend's), with no account login and no passport. You can pay with crypto — USDT, GRAM and other coins — and, for Stars, if you are in Russia or Belarus, with local cards and bank transfers; Premium is paid in crypto or with Stars from the bot's wallet. The buttons are «⭐ Buy Stars» and «👑 Buy Premium»; Premium comes for 3, 6 or 12 months, and the bot does not sell a single month.
Prices are on the Stars price and rate page and in the Premium section. If you already hold Stars and want to cash them out without a check, see how to sell Stars for USDT in the same bot.
What Fragment is and why it matters
Fragment is a Telegram partner platform where Stars and Premium are sold for crypto, and usernames and +888 numbers go through auctions. More in Fragment on Telegram. Paying there takes a crypto wallet, such as Tonkeeper.
Frequently asked questions
Is verification required on Fragment?
Media reports dated 26 November 2024 say Fragment introduced identity checks through Sumsub for purchases. There is no official table and sources disagree about both purchases and withdrawals, so the site itself shows what it asks of you at checkout.
How do I pass verification on Fragment?
Confirm your email and phone, enter your details, upload an ID document and pass the face check. According to reviews, a second attempt after a refusal is not always possible.
Do I need a passport for Fragment verification?
You need an identity document: reports mention an ID card. Which ones are accepted for your country is shown by the check itself.
Can I buy Fragment verification?
It is a trap: the check is tied to a person's documents, and an intermediary will want access to your account or photos of your passport. Buying Stars in Telegram or in the bot is safer.
Can I buy Stars without Fragment verification?
Yes, bypassing Fragment: in the Telegram app, in @PremiumBot or in the Shiba Bank bot by @username. Media reported that purchases through @PremiumBot and the app stores are not affected by the check.
Do I need verification if the bot buys the Stars?
No. The bot buys on Fragment itself, and all you give it is the recipient's @username.
